 NMLS Coronavirus/COVID-19 Updates

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS), State Examination System (SES), and all supporting systems​ are fully operational. 

Some NMLS vendors that provide services related to obtaining and maintaining licensure in NMLS may be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. You will find status updates here.

  • The NMLS Call Center is operating under normal conditions. (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET)

 NMLS Policy Changes for COVID-19

Following the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's release announcing there would be a 30-day extension for certain reports, the NMLS Policy Committee has decided to amend the previously announced 60-day temporary deadline extension for the following types of reporting submitted in NMLS:

  • Money Services Businesses Call Report
  • Mortgage Call Report 
  • Mortgage Call Report Financial Condition
  • Financial Statements
With the amended policy, instead of an extension, ​the NMLS Policy Committee encourages regulators to be lenient and not take administrative action if reports are filed within 30 days of the placement of the License Item.

 NMLS Criminal Background Checks

  • NMLS Criminal Background Check processing is operating normally.
  • Approximately 50 percent of the Fieldprint electronic fingerprint network has been impacted. Fieldprint site closures are increasing rapidly as local orders to close businesses continue to occur.
  • ​Only individuals without valid fingerprints on file with NMLS are affected.​
  • Appointments cannot be scheduled at Fieldprint sites that are temporarily closed. 
  • Visit Fieldprint online to ​schedule an appointment​ at an open Lives​can location or request paper cards.
  • Rescheduling for ​existing appointments if the Fieldprint site is temporarily closed: 
    • Fieldprint support team is contacting individuals to schedule appointments at another nearby facility
    • Rescheduling fees eliminated until further notice  ​
  • For questions about appointments or locations, contact Fieldprint customer service: 1-877-614-4355, Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. ET.  

 SAFE MLO Testing and Education

​Testing Centers

Effective March 18, all Prometric Test Centers in the U.S. and Canada will be closed for 30 days.

  • ​​Who is affected?
    • Individuals seeking to take the test for new MLO license applications or under Temporary Authority.
  • What are we doing?
    • ​Test enrollment window extended 180 days.​
