NMLS Release 2024.3 Scheduled for Saturday, March 16

​NMLS maintenance release 2024.3 is scheduled for Saturday, March 16. The system updates can be reviewed in the NMLS 2024.3 Release Notes. These release notes include details on changes that will be effective Monday, March 18 and changes that will be effective Monday, April 1, for Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6.

NMLS Reinstatement Ends Feb. 29

The 2024 NMLS Reinstatement Period will end Thursday, Feb. 29.

Note: NMLS will shut down at 12 a.m. on March 1, for the 2024 State Reinstatement End processing. NMLS is expected to be available as scheduled on Friday, March 1, at 7 a.m. ET.

CSBS Seeks Comments on Proposed Changes to the NMLS Money Services Businesses Call Report

​On behalf of the NMLS Policy Committee, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors invites public comments on proposed changes to the NMLS Money Services Businesses Call Report (MSBCR). Click here to review the proposal. Comments must be submitted by emailing comments@csbs.org no later than Mar. 13 at 5 p.m. ET and must include the respondent’s contact information to be considered.

CSBS Announces NMLS Fee Review is in Progress

​CSBS today announced​ at the NMLS Annual Conference & Training that an annual review of NMLS fees has started.

The SRR Board of Managers, which governs NMLS operations, reviews NMLS fees annually to determine if the fee structure is properly aligned with the costs of efficiently operating NMLS for the 600,000 industry users who rely on the system to maintain their licensing or registration.  

The NMLS fee review process will continue throughout 2024. Any changes to NMLS fees will take effect in 2025.

New Private Student Loan Acquisition Business Activity Available in NMLS

​The NMLS Policy Committee recently requested feedback on the addition of a Private Student Loan Acquisition business activity to NMLS. Based on the feedback received, the Committee approved the proposed definition. The new business activity has been added to the Business Activity Definitions List located on the Resource Center. 

Updated NMLS Modernization Web Page Now Available

​CSBS today launched an updated NMLS Modernization web page. The page has been redesigned to make it easy for NMLS users, the public, and other stakeholders to stay abreast of key NMLS enhancements underway now and over the next several years.

Check out the web page today and sign up to receive email updates when new articles are added to the page.            

New, engaging content will continually be added as NMLS modernization development activities occur.

The next NMLS Ombudsman meeting is an opportunity to discuss issues and topics with state regulators concerning NMLS, the State Examination System (SES), state licensing and supervision, and federal registration.  
 
Submit agenda items by emailing ombudsman@nmls.org no later than 5 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 19. The submissions must be in their final version on company letterhead and include any information relevant to the issue. Submissions will be posted on the Ombudsman page of the NMLS Resource Center. Submission presenters must attend the meeting in-person to present. The meeting will be in person only; no dial-in will be available. Agendas, summaries and recordings of previous Ombudsman meetings can be found on the Ombudsman page.​

Update on Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6: State-Specific Supplemental Form Now Available

​One of the improvements made with Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6 (MCR FV6) is to eliminate commercial and consumer lending data fields from mortgage reporting by creating a separate State-Specific Supplemental Form to collect this data. Not all companies will see this form in the MCR due to its state-specific nature, as determined by state agency and license types. We have added the indication of this requirement to the State MCR Requirements Chart on the MCR FV6 page here on the NMLS Resource Center.

New Earned Wage Access Business Activities in NMLS Available Today

​The NMLS Policy Committee recently requested feedback on the addition of two proposed Earned Wage Access Business Activities. Based on the feedback received, the Committee approved the proposed definitions. The new Business Activities have been added to the Business Activity Definitions List located on the Resource Center. ​

ME Adds Full and Limited Service Payroll Processor License and Restricted Service Payroll Processor License to NMLS Dec. 1

​Starting on December 1, 2023, NMLS will receive new application and transition filings for the Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection Full and Limited Service Payroll Processor License and Restricted Service Payroll Processor License.

Note: Companies holding these license types are required to submit a license transition request through NMLS by filing a Company Form (MU1) and an Individual Form (MU2) for each of their control persons by January 31, 2024. Click here for more information.


New Web Page Available for Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6

​A new Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6 (MCR FV6) web page is now available on the NMLS Resource Center. This page has been created to make it easier for companies to find the information they need to prepare to meet MCR FV6 filing requirements. The page will be updated on a regular basis as new information and resources become available. We encourage companies to bookmark the new MCR FV6 web page and check it often.
 
In addition, a blue button labeled, “MCR FV6," has been added to the home page of the NMLS Resource Center and previous Mortgage Call Report page to help companies reach the new MCR FV6 page easily.    ​

Spec File for Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6 is Now Available

​Mortgage companies preparing to meet new NMLS Mortgage Call Report Form Version 6 (MCR FV6) filing requirements effective April 1, 2024, can now access XML file specifications on the Mortgage Call Report page of the NMLS Resource Center.

Use of the XML file to submit quarterly MCR data is not required. However, companies that choose to submit their data via XML file can start preparing their systems for the changes coming with MCR FV6 effective April 1, 2024. CSBS will provide a test submission option in January 2024 for companies that want to test their XML submission in NMLS prior to April.

LA Adds New Private Education Lender to NMLS January 1, 2024

NV FID Adds Student Loan Servicer License to NMLS Dec. 1

​Starting on December 1, NMLS will receive new application filings for the Nevada Financial Institutions Division Student Loan Servicer License. New applicants will be able to submit these records through NMLS starting on December 1, 2023. Click here for more information. 

Minnesota Money Transmission Modernization Act

​On May 24, 2023, Governor Tim Walz signed Minnesota Session Law 2023, Chapter 57, Senate File 2744 into law, which included the Minnesota version of the Money Transmission Modernization Act (MTMA).
